Success is Possible: A Family Journey to Canada

In 2015, Pablo and Carla Ramos, along with their two children, Sofia (17) and Diego (15), left Colombia for a new life in Canada. Pablo was accepted into a Master’s program in Toronto, and with the help of their RCIC, the family embarked on a challenging yet rewarding journey.

While Pablo focused on his studies, Carla supported the family by working part-time as a customer service representative. She also improved her English through classes, while the children adapted to their new schools. Despite their son, Diego’s diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome, the family embraced their new life-challenge with love, patience, and determination.

After Pablo graduated, he secured a job as a Marketing Specialist at a furniture store. With Canadian work experience and improved skills, the couple entered the Express Entry system and received an invitation to apply for permanent residency. Within a year of entering the pool, their RCIC informed them that they achieved their residency goal!

Four years later, with the help of their RCIC, the Ramos family proudly became Canadian citizens. Today, their daughter, Sofia, is thriving in her career and enjoying life with her partner. They travel the world almost every year. Their son, Diego, learned how to live with his condition and appreciated all the sacrifices made for him and his sister as this success couldn’t have been possible had they stayed in their own country. Diego is married with two kids, owns a home in Toronto, drives a modern hybrid car, and balances a busy, fulfilling life in Canada.
